Talent Acquisition Coordinator

Capps Plumbing & Sewer, Inc. · Wheeling, IL · Full time, in person $28 to $31 per hour depending on experience. $58,000 to $64,000 annually. Monday through Friday, 8 hour days.

You own hiring here. Not a piece of it, all of it, from the job posting through the new hire's first week.

What you will do

A normal day starts with the applicant queue. Overnight applications are reviewed and dispositioned before anything else, because the candidates worth talking to are gone within 48 hours in this market. You will make roughly [X] outbound calls a day working that queue, most of them short, some of them full phone screens. Expect [X] completed phone screens in a normal week.

The rest of the day is moving people forward. You schedule interviews with the department leader who owns the req, confirm them, and re-confirm the ones that look shaky. You refresh and rewrite postings that have gone stale. You extend offers, you send the background check, you collect the paperwork, and you make sure the new hire's first day is set up before they walk in.

You will carry [X] open requisitions at a time across [service techs, apprentices, dispatch, office]. Some are always open. Some appear the morning a truck needs a body in it.

Once a week you send leadership a hiring update: what is open, what moved, what is stuck and why. End of day updates go out daily.

You are given an ATS ([system name]), paid accounts on Indeed, ZipRecruiter and LinkedIn, a [recruiting budget / sponsored job budget] you help manage, a company phone, and direct access to the department leaders who own the reqs. You are not routing approvals through three people to post a job.

You will also work with Marketing on recruitment campaigns and employment branding, run stay and exit interviews, and represent Capps at career fairs and trade school events.

What we require

  • Minimum 2 years of full cycle recruiting or talent acquisition experience
  • Hands on experience with an ATS and with Indeed, LinkedIn, and ZipRecruiter
  • Experience sourcing beyond job boards: referrals, social, networking, direct outreach
  • Ability to run multiple open requisitions at once without losing track of a candidate
  • Strong written and verbal communication, since you are the company's first impression
  • Background check
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred, not required:

  • Recruiting for skilled trades, construction, home services, or manufacturing
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience is considered.

What we offer

  • Health insurance, company covers 50% of employee and family premiums
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • 401(k) matching
  • Vacation time
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays

Who does well here

The person who does well in this seat is persistent and organized in equal measure. Persistent, because good trade candidates do not answer the first call and the job is calling again. Organized, because you will have [X] searches running at once and the failure mode is a candidate going cold in your inbox, not a bad hire.

You are comfortable owning an outcome rather than a task list. Nobody is going to hand you a daily plan. You will look at what is open, decide what matters most today, and work it.

You follow through in writing. When you say a candidate is scheduled for Thursday, they are scheduled for Thursday, and the hiring manager knows it.

You can hold your own with a service manager who needs a tech yesterday, and you can tell a candidate no without making it awkward.

We do not make excuses here. We handle it. If that reads as your kind of place, apply.
