Capps Plumbing & Sewer
FOR APPLICANTS

What we do with what you send us.

Version 5 · in effect Sep 4, 2026

This is the notice you acknowledge when you apply. It is written to be read, not to be survived. If something here is unclear, write to us and ask.

What we collect

We do not ask about criminal history anywhere on the form, and there is nowhere in our system to record it. Illinois restricts when an employer can raise it, and the form is built so it cannot be asked here at all.

How we count

We count how many people open each posting and how many open the application form, so we can tell whether a job is being seen. That counting happens on our own servers. There is no advertising tag on this site, no analytics company, no tracking pixel, and nothing here follows you to another website. We do not build a profile of you and we do not know who you are until you send us an application.

What we do not do

No software scores your application, ranks you against other applicants, shortlists, or writes a summary that a hiring decision gets made from. There is no fit score in our system, and there is no column to put one in. A person reads what you sent. That is the whole review.

Your ZIP code is stored so we know where to mail things and roughly how far you would be driving. It is never used to sort, filter, or shortlist.

Who sees it

Every time somebody opens your resume, our system records who opened it and when. Files are never on a public link — they open through a temporary address that expires within the hour.

The voluntary questions

If you choose to answer the self-identification questions about gender, race and ethnicity, veteran status, or disability, those answers go into a separate store. Nobody involved in hiring for the job you applied to can see them, individually or otherwise. They exist only as aggregate counts, and the system refuses to report on a group small enough to identify a person. Every one of those questions has a prefer-not-to-say option, and skipping the whole section changes nothing about your application.

How long we keep it

Applications are kept for 36 months from the date you applied. After that, an automatic job deletes your documents and removes your personal information, keeping only anonymous counts — which posting, what the outcome was, what month it happened — so we can tell whether our hiring is working.

If we add you to our talent pool, we hold your record while that entry is active, and pool entries expire. Before one lapses we ask whether you still want to be in it. We do not keep people on file indefinitely on the theory that they might be a fit someday.

If we hire you, your information moves into our employee records, which are kept under a different policy that you will be given on your first day.

What you can ask for

Email hr@cappsplumbing.com. A person handles it. We are not going to make you use a form.

Text messages

If you check the box allowing texts, we may text you about your application. Message frequency varies, message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP at any time to end it. Declining texts does not affect your application — we will call you instead.

Equal opportunity

Capps Plumbing & Sewer hires on the work. We do not make employment decisions on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by Illinois or federal law.

The exact wording of this notice is saved with your application at the moment you acknowledge it, so what you agreed to can always be produced. If we change this notice, the version you agreed to is the version that applies to you.
